Drain Jetting The Hill

Drain jetting in The Hill blasts a blocked pipe clean with water at high pressure, lifting fat, sludge and fine roots a plunger won't touch. Book it when a drain keeps slowing. We film the line, quote a fixed price, jet it, then film it again.

Jetting is one part of our blocked drains service. Your plumber in The Hill handles the rest of your plumbing too.

Why Do Steep Streets Still Block?

A steep pipe should flush itself. The catch is the flat length near the bottom, where the flow slows and whatever it carried sinks and packs down.

  • Fat coating the kitchen stack in converted flats
  • A plug of waste where a steep line goes flat
  • Root mats grown into displaced clay joints
  • Silt washed into stormwater grates when heavy rain runs down the streets

The jet moves all four. A pipe split open by roots needs repair, not cleaning.

How Does the Jetter Clear a Line?

Filming comes first, because clay that is already broken shouldn't be hit with full pressure.

  1. 01

Film the drain to locate the plug and check the clay

  2. 02

Feed the hose in with the nozzle suited to that pipe

  3. 03

Let the jet cut through the fat or roots and wash the loosened debris away

  4. 04

Film again to confirm the pipe is open

Where step one reveals a caved-in length, jetting is pointless, so we halt there and talk you through the video.

What Shapes the Cost of Jetting?

  • Metres of pipe to be jetted
  • Whether it is soft fat or a tough root mass
  • Filming before and after
  • Evening or weekend work at the after-hours rate

Grades That Load the Drains

Speed, then a standstill

Drains here fall sharply from the ridge, and waste moves quickly until the grade eases near the bottom. There the solids settle, so the blockage sits in that flat stretch rather than under your sink.

Clay joints that catch

The Victorian heritage terraces still drain through clay laid in the 1800s, and the creeping hillside has nudged its joints apart. Fat and silt hang up on those edges, which is why we film the pipe after jetting it.

What Customers Say

We talked through the options of our blocked kitchen sink drain (not just an s bend problem) and came to the perfect long term solution at a reasonable price.

Where Jetting Hands the Job Over

When we're not the right call: jetting won't mend broken clay. A cracked length that is still round suits pipe relining, and a root mass needs tree root removal.

A plug in Hunter Water's sewer on the street side is for their crews, not ours. If you only want to know what is down there, book a CCTV drain inspection on its own.

From Your Call to a Clean Line

1. Ring or send the form. Call (02) 4063 1093 or use the form to explain the fault. We ask enough to bring the right equipment the first time.

2. A fixed price first. A plumber inspects the job and names a fixed figure up front. Nothing gets started until you give the go-ahead.

3. Jet and flush. The hose enters through an inspection opening, and the spinning nozzle chews through the plug and rinses the pipe clean.

4. Covered for a year. Every job carries our 365-day warranty on all work. If something we did isn't right, ring the same number.

Will jetting damage the old clay pipes under The Hill terraces?

Not if the pressure is set for clay. We film the drain before jetting to see its material and any cracks, then pick the nozzle and pressure to match. If a joint has slipped badly or a length has caved in, we skip the jet and price a reline.

How long does a jetted drain stay clear on this ridge?

A fat or paper blockage that has been jetted out stays gone if the pipe is sound. Roots differ, because figs near the cathedral keep pushing them along damp trenches and back into the joints by the next year or so. A reline closes the gaps they use.

Do you use chemicals as part of the jetting?

No chemicals at all. The cleaning is done by water forced through a nozzle at high pressure. That suits old terrace drains, since harsh drain cleaners can attack aged clay and rubber seals.

Can you jet a shared line that serves several terrace homes?

Yes. Where a terrace row shares one old sewer, we feed the hose in through an opening already on the line, with no digging. Afterwards each owner can see their stretch of pipe on the video.
