CCTV Drain Inspection The Hill
A CCTV drain inspection in The Hill puts a waterproof camera inside your drain and films it, so you see the crack, root or sag before paying for a fix or lifting a paver. Book one when a drain keeps blocking or before buying a terrace. Your plumber in The Hill quotes the job first.

What does the camera actually show?
On the screen you will see:
- Cracked or bellied sections of old earthenware, with the crack on screen and its depth marked
- Root mats growing through displaced joints, and how far down the run they reach
- Low, level stretches near the foot of a steep run where solids come to rest
- Whether the pipe is still round and sound, or collapsed and beyond clearing
A metre counter runs on the video, so every fault in the summary has a distance from the opening.

How does a camera pass run?
- 1
We lift the closest inspection opening and push the camera head in, watching the monitor.
- 2
Each crack, root, sag or slipped joint is noted against its distance.
- 3
The camera is reeled back and the video saved.
- 4
You get the video plus a summary, and we explain each note in plain terms.
A locator above ground picks up the camera head's signal, so we can mark on the paving where the pipe runs. Clearing itself is covered under blocked drains.
The price of a camera run
A camera job is priced on its own layout:
- How many access points the line needs to get full coverage
- Total metres filmed, with a line shared by a terrace row running further than one branch
- Openings tucked behind retaining walls or down steep garden steps, which slow set-up
- Whether we are filming on its own or before and after a clear
We provide up-front, honest quotes that will always match the final price, should you decide to go ahead.

What Customers Say
Our blocked toilet morphed into a huge plumbing earthworks project due to extreme pipe damage from tree roots.
When We're Not the Right Call
If the drain flows well and has never given trouble, you don't need a camera yet. And when the video traces a fault to Hunter Water's side of the boundary, repairing it is up to them.
What to Book After the Video
Depending on what the video shows, the next job is one of these:
Drain jetting
For grease or silt coating the pipe
Tree root removal
Where roots got in but the clay is intact
Pipe relining
For a cracked pipe that is still round
Blocked sewer
Repairs on a shared waste line
Questions about camera inspections here
Why does a drain camera matter in The Hill?
The Victorian terraces still drain through clay pipe from the nineteenth century. On screen you can tell a joint that has slipped and caught paper from a length that has split as the slope moved, and each needs a different repair. You keep the file for strata or your insurer.
Do I get a copy of the footage?
Yes. You receive the video and a written summary to watch at home. For a strata lot we can also email both to the managing agent, with an invoice itemised for their records.
Can you inspect a drain in a shared terrace line?
Yes. We push the camera in from an inspection opening and film every joint the row shares on the way downhill. If the picture reaches the public sewer beyond the boundary and the fault is there, the report says so, and Hunter Water carries out that repair.
Does the inspection come with the drain clear?
It does. We film first to find the blockage, then film again once it is cleared to check the clay underneath. If the second video shows a crack instead of just debris, our pipe relining page explains how that is repaired.
